TEACH

an in-depth introduction
to the fundamentals of
cardiovascular physiology

The TEACH workshops are in-person, interactive sessions which combine didactic, clinically oriented lectures with an immersive “learn-by-doing” experience using the Harvi real-time cardiovascular simulator. Each program provides an introduction to the fundamentals of cardiovascular physiology and helps build the foundation for a deep understanding of the pathophysiology of cardiogenic shock and all forms for mechanical circulatory support used for its treatment. The program helps conceptualize complex concepts through the window of the ventricular pressure-volume diagram, giving participants a fresh and unique perspective that can carry over to clinical practice. TEACH programs are tailored to the needs and experience of a particular audience.

TEACH I sessions focus on the basics of cardiovascular physiology as applied to cardiogenic shock and mechanical circulatory support. TEACH II programs focus on more complicated clinical scenarios. TEACH-ECMO programs are available that focus on the physiology of ECMO, gas exchange, heart and lung failure, and understanding complications unique to ECMO support. TEACH III programs focus on train-the-trainer skills to allow participants to use Harvi in their teaching.

Programs are conducted in association with regional, national and international medical meetings and also available to be conducted for individual medical school or fellowship programs.
