The TEACH workshops are in-person, interactive sessions which combine didactic, clinically oriented lectures with an immersive “learn-by-doing” experience using the Harvi real-time cardiovascular simulator. Groups of 3-5 participants work collaboratively through a series of guided tutorials. Each tutorial is preceded by a short lecture that includes audience response questions to gauge understanding. The program helps conceptualize complex concepts through the window of the ventricular pressure-volume diagram, giving participants a fresh and unique perspective that can carry over to clinical practice.
TEACH-ECMO focuses on the physiology of ECMO (VV and VA), gas exchange, heart and lung failure, LV distension and venting strategies, and understanding complications unique to ECMO support and is suitable for everyone, from trainees to advanced practitioners.
